Hyva do Brasil is partnering with Volvo on ‘Efficiency Concept Truck'
Alongside Randon (truck bodies) and Continental (tyres) – we are partnering with Volvo on its Efficiency Concept Truck project. Created in Brazil, this project features a Volvo/Randon road train truck combination which also integrates the latest creative technology solutions from other partners, such as Hyva and Continental.
Directed towards grain transportation, this road train vehicle will be tested on the "grain route" between the Brazilian mid-west and the coastal shipping ports. Brazil has one of the most competitive Agribusiness sectors in the world, with most of the grain production being transported by trucks.
Hyva’s contribution to the project is an innovative, hydraulics system which is installed and driven externally. This solution places the hydraulics ‘off-truck’, in a separate hydraulics station. This removes the requirement for tipping hydraulics on these specialised trucks, reduces vehicle weight (approximately 350 kilos), and uses less hydraulic oil. These gains can improve operating times, reduce fuel consumption, and reduce carbon emissions.
We are proud to participate in this project, bringing a new solution which was not previously part of our company’s product portfolio.
The idea was developed by Hyva's Brazilian engineering team. With this solution, grain transporters, specially those with large vehicle fleets, can install stationary hydraulic units at ports and unloading points. The operation is quite simple: the operator connects the mobile hoses from the external hydraulic unit to the connections on the trailer. The trailers then tip and dump the cargo into silos or underground storage tanks.
“We are proud to participate in this project, bringing a new solution which was not previously part of our company’s product portfolio,” explained Rogério De Antoni, Vice-President South and North America & CEO Hyva do Brasil. "It is the perfect opportunity to showcase Hyva’s technology and demonstrate our ability to come up with new solutions to meet specific customer requirements. And it emphasises our position as the world leader in the manufacture of cylinders for dump trailers.”
