RCL safety system
The purpose of RCL
The RCL safety system constantly monitors the crane conditions regarding the load, operation and function and will step in independently of the operator's doing and stop the crane. It functions in co-operation with you and does not work against you.
Thus, it prevents overloading of the crane's structure (load moment limitation). Furthermore, the RCL avoids the exceeding of the overturning moment (stability monitoring). By preventing this, it reduces the risk of accidental movements.
When the maximum load is reached, the user interface gives clear indications that make it easy for you to understand what happens and then act accordingly.
How does the RCL safety system work?
The controller in the safety system monitors the pressure transducers mounted on the boom cylinder. The pressure transducers register the hydraulic pressure which is an indication of the load on the crane. According to the signal from the pressure transducers, the controller registers when the crane has reached its maximum load and signals the hydraulic system to stop the load moment increasing movements.
If your crane comes to a stop due to the maximum load being reached, it is still possible to finish your work thanks to the emergency lowering function.
An intuitive user interface
The intuitive and user-friendly interface of the RCL gives you the following indications:
- Current load indication 80% to 100%
- Crane/stabilizer operation
- Speed adaptation (maximum speed of the crane is reduced to protect the crane or prevent instability)
- Stability monitoring (EVS) - if there is too much heel of the vehicle during crane operation)
- Slewing limitation
- Buzzer/Option button
- Stop button
- Override function activation
- Information display (shows the functional status of the crane or error codes)
